Raj(Shahrukh Khan) after the films release became every girls dream man. The song 'Tujhe Dekha Toh' has certainly become the ideal romantic song.įilms are made with the protagonist searching for her own Raj( yes I'm talking about Bachna Ae Haseeno) Not only that the film runs in cinema halls till date! Why else would this infamous quote be valid, "If Shakespeare were to be born in this era, he would name Romeo and Juliet as Raj and Simran". It shows how a film made from the heart can appeal to nothing else but the heart. It is not that it is a film that shows how the craft of filmmaking is to be done to perfection. It basically is an epitome of what a love story should be like.ĭebutant director Aditya Chopra helmed the film so beautifully that even the most experienced directors couldn't help but envy him.
#Dilwale dulhania le jayenge trailer movie
Its just that the movie was being aired on the television and it was coupled with the realisation that the movie hasn't had a substantial review(on desimartini) that compelled me to write this review.ĭDLJ first of all as a love story is second to none. However, I would be audacious enough to make that attempt for the belief that a film as great can this, shouldn't be restricted to just 3-4 reviews (to be honest comments) and a Wikipedia article, which is all that I see on this well established reviewing portal.įirst of all for clarification sake, I do not get fits of writing reviews for movies that released almost 2 decades ago. Over the past 17-18 years DDLJ has garnered so much money, fans, awards and evidently love that one can't describe it in words. The film I am reviewing is DDLJ- need I say more. It has no vulgarity or sensuous scenes or item numbers or anything considered cheap. The film has become a benchmark for romantic films with family appeal. Its dialogue " Bade bade deshon may choti choti baatein hoti rahti hain" was qoted by no less than President Obama in one of his speeches.Īs an inspiration this year, a film called " Simran" has been made based on the dialogue of the film "Jaa Simran jaa, jeelay apni zindagi ". The film has inspired a couple of production houses to make copies which are not half as good. And last but not the least the boy saying " Palat" is every Indian teenager boy's gimmick which he has tried many times in real life. The film caters to the dream fantasy of every boy which is to meet a pretty girl while travelling abroad and having a nice time.Ħ. The boy telling the girl's father that he loves his daughter maybe more than him.ĥ. The Indian festival Karva Chowth is shown nicely to cater to family audiences. The boy's father is very understanding and actually helps his son to get the girl. The boy though mischievous is honourable and refuses to elope with the girlĪnd tells this to the girl's mother. The mother though traditional is also understanding of her daughter's predicament and goes way out to help her leave home. There was the traditional strict Indian father wanting the best for his daughter. Indian middle class sensibilities were kept intact. Foreign locations were all attractively shown.Ĥ. They have all been exquisitely presented.ģ. It has an outstanding collection of songs which all became chartbusters. It is a romantic story of a handsome boy and a beautiful girl which has been shot in attractive locations abroad and which has a happy ending.Ģ. I am putting down points numerically in a random order as thoughts come to me.ġ. It has affected an entire generation of young and old who have found the characters realistic and relatable. This is not a normal review but an appraisal and an analysis as to why people have loved this film so much so as to make it one of the longest running films of all times.
